2022 - Thank You!
Blog post: A Thank you Note
The year 2022 has been marvelous in many ways. It has been both a smooth and bumpy ride. We look back, however, and see a ton of things we have been able to achieve. It has been a great joy having all the stakeholders work around the clock to enable Simama Project achieve its objectives.
The staff at Simama have been incredible. Both the managers, social workers, house mothers, farm workers and security have played a key role in ensuring things run smoothly. Working together, they have helped create the environment needed for our kids to feel safe, prosper and be able to become people of honor in the community. From impromptu calls to handle rescues, case assessments, assisting children to settle at the homes, providing counseling sessions, cooking, cleaning as well as securing them, this team has seen it all and we are glad that they chose to be part of this project.
Volunteers and Interns have also been instrumental. One of the important roles they play is during application for sponsorship by children. A lot of applicants visit the office for this process and it’s usually an enormous task going through all of them. The volunteers and interns have also come in handy during the tutoring and training sessions at the Centre of Worth. They help tackle the various topics and questions from teenagers as well as assist in their academics. Among many other tasks they do, we really appreciate all their work.
The children are at the center of our work. And without them, we wouldn’t exist as Simama. These children under our care have exhibited tremendous growth. We have seen many grow over the years not only physically, but also in terms of character and academics. Others have transited successfully and have become established professionals in their careers and businesses. As we appreciate the role of people who have helped shape them, we also thank these children for their discipline, commitment, and desire to be noble people in society.
Our partners have also been very supportive in keeping Simama going over the years. Whether it’s through encouragement, financial support, psycho-social support for the children and even making referrals, their grit is important to us. Women1One and Halo Foundation are some of the key partners we have journeyed together for a while. Other key players include Government agencies, community-based organizations, corporates and friends within Kenya and beyond who we encounter in the course of our work. Many of these stakeholders have visited our office or the transition home to donate and help out with the work on the ground. We are always grateful.
The ending of one matter is the beginning of another. And for Simama Project, we believe a new phase is dawning. We have big ambitions to expand the scope of our work towards helping the young ones, and with time, resources, and effort from each stakeholder we believe we can achieve a lot. With the vision of one person comes the fulfillment that touches many lives. And so, as we show gratitude to the many, we can’t forget the founder- Matt. He continues to shape the trajectory of Simama Project through his many sacrifices and commitment. He makes the story of Simama unmatched and an institution to reckon with in the society. As 2022 comes to an end, we look forward to yet another great year full of good tidings and opportunities.
May God take care of you and your loved ones.
